Description
Radium PCV Fluid Lock Catch Can Kit, Cadillac CTS-V (2009-2015)
Application: Cadillac CTS-V 2009–2015 (LSA)
Part Type: PCV Fluid Lock oil catch can kit
Part Number: 20-1562-FL
From 2004, GM's Gen IV LS engines replaced the PCV valve with a 2.5mm fixed orifice. A PCV valve promotes negative crankcase pressure, stops boost pressure entering the crankcase and, in a backfire, stops combustible vapour igniting in the crankcase. The Radium 20-1562-FL kit improves the LSA crankcase ventilation system on the 2009–2015 Cadillac CTS-V: the catch can runs inline between an O-ring sealed aluminium PCV valve and the intake manifold, and a baffled replacement oil cap draws as much blow-by from the crankcase as possible past the restrictive OEM orifice.
The included bracket replaces the OEM intercooler coolant filler bracket and mounts the catch can. When manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric the PCV valve closes; at idle, steady cruising and deceleration the PCV hoses see metered vacuum, which would otherwise draw crankcase vapour, unspent fuel and oil sludge into the intake manifold. Radium's Fluid Lock can (introduced with the 2022 redesign of its 7 fl oz catch can) uses a patented mechanism that prevents the reservoir from overfilling and traps the collected fluid until the can is emptied, so a can that misses a service can't pour contaminants back into the intake.
Key Features
- Fluid Lock: Patented Fluid Lock mechanism stops the reservoir overfilling and traps collected fluid until the can is emptied
- Large Ports: 10AN ORB inlet and outlet ports
- Drain Port: 4AN ORB drain port
- 2-Step Baffling: Two-step oil separation baffling
- Dipstick: O-ring sealed dipstick to check the fluid level
- Pressure Sealed: No extra inline check valve is required
- Direct Fitment: Vehicle-specific bracket, no drilling required
- PCV Valve Included: O-ring sealed aluminium PCV valve
- Baffled Oil Cap: Replacement baffled oil cap draws more blow-by than the restrictive 2.5mm OEM orifice port
- Bracket: Replaces the OEM intercooler coolant filler bracket
What's Included
- Baffled Fluid Lock oil catch can
- Baffled oil cap replacement
- O-ring sealed aluminium PCV valve
- CTS-V mounting bracket
- AN adapter fittings and hose ends
- Stainless steel hardware
- Radium PCV hose
Optional Parts
- Radium CCV Fluid Lock Catch Can Kit, Cadillac CTS-V (2009-2015) (20-0563-FL) – recommended pairing – covers the crankcase vent (CCV) side
- Radium Dual Fluid Lock Catch Can Kit, Cadillac CTS-V (2009-2015) (20-1564-FL) – PCV and CCV kits combined in one part number
- Radium Catch Can Petcock Drain Kit (20-0024) – drain the can without removing the lower reservoir, where there is space under the can
Important Notes
- This kit covers the PCV side only – Radium recommends using it with the 20-0563-FL CCV kit
- There is no fixed emptying interval – start checking the integrated dipstick after 3–4 weeks of driving and adjust from there; PCV cans generally collect more than CCV cans. Empty by unscrewing the lower reservoir, or fit the Petcock Drain Kit where there is space under the can
- Excessive collection can point to an engine issue such as blow-by from engine damage, crankcase windage from an overfilled oil level, poor breather port placement or baffling, or a PCV valve not closing and leaking under heavy load
- Installation instructions are available in the Instructions tab
