The Radium 20-0329-FL Dual Catch Can Kit covers both sides of the S197 Shelby GT500 crankcase ventilation system. The PCV catch can runs inline with the PCV valve and retains its factory function: the hose sees metered vacuum at idle, cruise and deceleration, which would normally draw crankcase vapour, unburnt fuel and oil sludge into the intake manifold after a high-load run. Because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed they suit supercharged applications like this, so a direct intake manifold connection is permitted.

The crankcase vent can runs inline with the crankcase breather port, which sees high flow out of the crankcase at wide-open throttle and would otherwise deposit oil and sludge in the air filter intake pipe. The catch can separates oil and water condensation from the crankcase gases before they are drawn into the intake, preventing oil build-up in the intake, intercooler system, throttle body and intake manifold. This effectively raises octane, can improve performance through cleaner inlet air and can lower hydrocarbon emissions, while the closed system keeps oil vapour out of the cabin. Radium's Fluid Lock design, introduced in 2022, adds a patented mechanism that stops the reservoir overfilling and traps the collected fluid until the can is emptied, so contaminants can't spill into the intake if servicing is missed.

Important Notes

• There is no fixed emptying interval – start checking the integrated dipstick after 3-4 weeks of driving and adjust from there; PCV cans generally collect more than CCV cans
• Empty by unscrewing the lower reservoir, or fit the optional petcock drain kit where there is space under the can
• Excessive collection can point to an engine issue such as blow-by from engine damage, crankcase windage from an overfilled oil level, poor breather port placement or baffling, or a PCV valve not closing under heavy load
