Description
Radium Fuel Pulse Damper - Direct Mount (FPD-R / FPD-XR) | 8AN ORB or 3/8" NPT
Application: Universal – EFI fuel systems with a 3/8" NPT female port
Part Type: Direct mount fuel pulse damper, FPD-XR (extended range), 3/8" NPT
Part Number: 20-0179
Injector opening and closing creates pressure pulses in the fuel rail that can cause unstable fuel pressure, idle surge (especially with high-flow injectors) and lean AFR spikes felt as stumbling. The Radium Direct Mount Fuel Pulse Damper absorbs these pulses with an internal diaphragm to stabilise fuel pressure.
Part 20-0179 is the FPD-XR extended range damper with a male 3/8in NPT body, suited to a base static fuel pressure of 40–105 psi. A vacuum/boost reference port maintains damper performance at elevated fuel pressures, and the damper is safe with all fuel types including E85.
Key Features
- Extended Range (XR): Base static fuel pressure 40–105 psi
- 3/8in NPT Mount: Tapered male thread – vacuum port can be clocked while tightening
- Vacuum/Boost Reference: Maintains performance at elevated fuel pressure
- Mount Anywhere: Any angle, including upside down
- All Fuels: Compatible with E85 and all fuel types
What's Included
- Anodised, laser engraved aluminium top (marked XR)
- Anodised aluminium body with male 3/8in NPT thread
- Stainless steel hardware
- Rubber vacuum hose, 4mm ID
- Vacuum hose Y-fitting
Optional Parts
- Radium FPD-R Fuel Pulse Dampener - 3/8" NPT (20-0178) – standard range (40–70 psi) NPT version
- Radium V2 FPD-XR Extended Range Fuel Pulse Damper, 8AN ORB (20-0777) – extended range version for 8AN ORB ports
- Radium V2 FPD-R Fuel Pulse Damper, 8AN ORB (20-0776) – standard range version for 8AN ORB ports
Important Notes
- Cannot be used with mechanical fuel pumps (including direct injection) – the pulses will rupture the diaphragm
- Base pressure is measured with the pump running and no vacuum line connected to the regulator; it must be within 40–105 psi
- Dynamic pressure from a rising-rate FPR outside this range is acceptable provided base pressure is in range and the vacuum/boost reference line is connected; a vacuum line may still be needed if pressure can fall below 40 psi
- If base pressure is 70 psi or less the XR generally offers no advantage over the FPD-R
- NPT threads require sealant – tighten finger tight plus 1.5 to 3 turns
- This listing is the 3/8in NPT FPD-XR only – see Optional Parts for FPD-R and 8AN ORB versions
- Installation instructions are available in the Instructions tab
