Description
Radium Multi-Pump Fuel Surge Tank MPFST
Application: Universal – external fuel surge tank for vehicles with poorly baffled fuel tanks
Part Type: Multi-pump fuel surge tank (MPFST) – fuel pumps not included
Part Number: 20-1440, 20-1441, 20-1442, 20-0443-00
A fuel surge tank prevents fuel starvation in vehicles with poor tank baffling. A lift pump – usually the OEM in-tank pump – fills the surge tank, the stored fuel buffers the MPFST pump(s), and excess fuel returns to the main tank. It lets you upgrade a stock fuel system without opening the stock tank, making it well suited to big power upgrades such as forced induction.
The 2024 redesign supports multiple high-flow pumps. Their outlets merge into a single outlet, and because the pumps have check valves they can be staged. Fuel enters the supply and return ports tangentially, swirling to reduce air bubbles and foaming.
Key Features
- Multi-Pump: Up to 3 pumps (1 or 2 for the E5LM version), merged into one outlet
- Pump Staging: Pumps with internal check valves can be staged
- Anti-Foam Entry: Tangential supply and return entry swirls fuel to reduce air bubbles and foam
- Chambered Pre-Filter: Three independent filtration chambers – fuel cannot pass between them
- Swappable Fittings: Preinstalled 8AN and 6AN male adapters can be changed to other sizes
- Level Switch Port: Ready for the optional 20-0461 fuel level switch
- High-Current Electrical: Anti-rotation high-current electrical studs
- Fuel Compatibility: Internal wiring is petrol, ethanol and methanol compliant
Available Configurations
- 20-1440: Walbro GSS342, AEM 50-1200, DeatschWerks DW440 – up to 3 pumps
- 20-1441: DeatschWerks DW400, Bosch BR540 – up to 3 pumps (BR540 has no check valve so can't be staged; 3 pumps won't fit with the optional level switch)
- 20-1442: Walbro F90000267, F90000274, F90000285, F90000295; DeatschWerks DW810, Fuelab 49614, Protec 11928 (brushless) – up to 3 pumps (F90000295 can't be staged; brushless pumps need the 13-1187 base)
- 20-0443-00: Ti Automotive E5LM (BKS1001) or Injector Dynamics BPC100 – 1 or 2 pumps, brushless controller required, check valve adapters included
What's Included
- Surge tank
- Anodised aluminium pump mounting bracket
- Stainless mesh pump inlet screen (press-in filter sock on 20-0443-00)
- Anti-rotation high-current electrical studs
- Ring terminals and hardware
- Preinstalled fittings – 8AN male on the pump outlet, 6AN male on the supply, return and overflow ports
- Check valve adapters (20-0443-00 only)
Optional Parts
- Radium Fuel Level Switch, 1/8" NPT (20-0461) – signals when fuel in the surge tank drops by 20% or more
- Radium Engineering Fuel Pump Filter Base Adapter – 12mm Brushless Pumps (13-1187) – required for brushless DW810, Fuelab 49614 and Protec 11928 pumps in the 20-1442
Important Notes
- Fuel pumps are not included
- Plumb exactly as specified: stock tank pump outlet to the MPFST supply port, stock tank return to the overflow port, MPFST pump outlet to the engine/fuel rail, and MPFST return port to the regulator's return port
- On returnless vehicles, don't block the overflow port – create a return port on the stock tank instead (see Radium's returnless instructions)
- Unused pump ports on the inlet screen don't need to be blocked off
- The E5LM version (20-0443-00) requires a brushless pump controller
- Installation instructions are available in the Instructions tab
