Mandated by the FIA, fuel cell foam acts as both an explosion suppressant and baffling. Radium's reticulated polyurethane foam meets MIL-DTL-83054C Type II and, at a nominal 15 pores per inch, displaces only 0.26L (0.07 US gal / 9oz) of fuel per piece. All Radium fuel cells come preassembled with this foam.

Inspect fuel cell foam after every race season and replace it at least every 3 seasons. Radium's testing with high-content alcohol fuels (ethanol and methanol) showed no foam deterioration, but more frequent inspections are advised as alcohol could shorten foam life.

Important Notes

• Inspect more often when running ethanol or methanol fuels
• Foam is inserted through the 6" x 10" opening – the old foam can be used as a cutting reference

• Radium 10 gal fuel cell – 2 pieces, no modification
• Radium 10.5 gal spare tyre fuel cell – 2 pieces, cut each piece into 3 sections
• Radium 14 gal fuel cell – 3 pieces, cut 1 piece in half lengthways
• Radium 22 gal fuel cell – 5 pieces, cut 1 piece in half lengthways
• Universal – can be cut to suit any fuel cell or tank
