A lift pump – usually the OEM in-tank pump – fills the surge tank, and its fuel volume keeps the MPFST-R pump(s) supplied through momentary lift-pump starvation. The volume is maintained by the lift pump and by fuel returning from the built-in regulator, with excess fuel returning to the main tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe MPFST-R is returnless: the built-in RA-series regulator sends low-pressure fuel back into the surge tank, so no external regulator return line is needed and the single feed line dead-ends at the engine.
