A lift pump draws fuel from the bottom of the fuel cell into the surge tank canister, where up to three EFI pumps supply the engine. If the lift pump starves, the canister volume keeps the surge pumps fed, and the fuel pressure regulator return also feeds the canister.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe canister has three separate filtration chambers so fuel cannot pass between them, and unused ports don't need blocking. Three one-way FKM fill valves (355 LPH each, 1065 LPH total) refill the surge tank from the cell, with excess fuel overflowing back into the cell.
