It performs two jobs: it shuts off the vent when the tank is full, and it provides roll-over protection.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen the tank fills, the upper sealing ball floats up and closes the vent so fuel cannot rise into the vent line. A small amount of air pressure then builds in the cell and the dump can begins to \"chug\", signalling that the cell is full and the dry break can be released – so there is no need to watch the filling process. This low fill version suits fuel cells with a small width-by-length footprint and a shorter height to the filler, shutting off venting sooner to prevent overfilling.
