At low load the vents see atmospheric pressure, but at high load (WOT) they see high flow out of the crankcase, which would normally leave oil and sludge in the air filter intake pipe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn wet sump engines each valve cover vents to the intake through its own can. On dry sump engines the LH valve cover vents through its can and the RH valve cover vents through the dry sump tank, then its can. The large anodised bracket mounts near the front LH side of the engine on a polished billet aluminium ground plate that bolts to three OEM grounding points (it conducts electricity, so the grounds are retained). A catch can separates oil and water condensation from the crankcase gases before they reach the intake, helping to keep oil out of the intake tract, intercooler, throttle body and intake manifold.
