At low load this circuit sees atmospheric pressure, but at high load (WOT) the vents see high flow out of the crankcase, which would normally leave oil and sludge in the intake pipe and intercooler, reducing the intercooler's thermal efficiency.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSeparating oil and water condensation from the crankcase gases keeps oil build-up out of the intake, intercooler, throttle body and intake manifold. This effectively raises octane, can improve performance from cleaner inlet air and can lower hydrocarbon emissions, and the closed system keeps oil vapour out of the cabin.
